Teaching conflict management skills is part of my counseling for individuals, couples and families, because conflict is a part of life. There’s really no way to avoid it – even if you live alone on an island. In your very own mind there would be opposing impulses from different parts of your brain!
So we all need to know how to manage our reactions to conflict, as we remain true to ourselves and respectful of others. We need to think in terms of negotiation, rather than one side winning as the other loses. We need to learn how to address and “be present” during disagreement rather than shutting down, blaming or being angry and hurt.
I’d like to help you grow the brain networks that generate effective conflict management skills!
